Are you planning to visit friends living in China? If your visit is for up to 90 days, you will need a visitor visa.

Initial Requirements for a Visitor Visa

To begin your application, you must obtain a private invitation from your host in China. The invitation should include:

• 1. The host's address and telephone number.
• 2. The personal details of the invited guest(s) including full name and date of birth.
• 3. The specific period of your intended stay (from... to...).
• 4. An original handwritten signature by the host.

Entry Types for Private Invitations

A private invitation may allow for single or double entry. A double-entry visa is advisable if you plan a short visit to Hong Kong/Macau or a neighboring country during your stay, with a return to China counting as the "second" entry. For double-entry visas, each stay in China is limited to a maximum of 30 days.

Formal Requirements for Private Invitations

Along with the invitation, a copy of the ID of the inviting person must be attached.

1. If the host is a Chinese citizen permanently living in China, include copies of the front and back of the Chinese ID card.
2. If the host has a different nationality but resides in China, attach two copies from their passport:
   • The main page with the passport photo.
   • The page with a valid residence permit covering the entire duration of your visit.

The invitation can be issued in China, scanned, and sent as an attachment to UK. It can be in English or Chinese.
